A Florida woman is facing several charges after allegedly operating an illegal dental clinic outside of her home, local10.com reported March 12.
An investigation was launched after the Florida Department of Health received an anonymous complaint alleging that Karim Selene Cordova Rivera, 54, was practicing dentistry without a license at her residence.
Detectives reportedly arranged an appointment with Ms. Rivera for a tooth extraction that was to take place at her home address. Two detectives then visited the home, with one completing a consultation for a tooth extraction. Officers later conducted a search warrant at the residence, allegedly finding a functional dental setup inside of a bedroom and biomedical waste associated with previously treated patients.
Ms. Rivera was arrested March 11. She reportedly told detectives she is licensed to practice dentistry in Peru, but not in the U.S.
