Here are five statistics pointing to new roadblocks and ongoing challenges in dentistry:

1. Emergency department visits for dental issues unrelated to physical trauma increased by 57.9% among children 14 and under, according to a report from the CareQuest Institute for Oral Health.

2. There has been an 11.6% decline in dental job postings in the last year, according to new research from Indeed.

3. Dentalpost reported that dental assistants are the likeliest dental professionals to be seeking new opportunities, with 47% considering changing jobs within the next two years.

4. Dental industry private equity deals saw a 37.2% drop in 2025, primarily in endodontics and periodontics.
