The Illinois insurer discovered that a hacker gained access to an employee’s email account between Dec. 21-28, 2018. Delta Dental of Illinois began notifying its members in April.
In the notice, Delta Dental of Illinois said the phishing attack may have exposed members’ names, addresses, dates of birth, insurance information and Social Security numbers.
There has been no indication of protected health information misuse since the data breach. However, Delta Dental of Illinois is offering members one year of credit monitoring protection.
