The University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore has appointed Gary Warburton, DDS, MD, as interim dean.
Dr. Warburton is internationally recognized for his expertise in temporomandibular joint surgery and maxillofacial trauma reconstructive surgery, according to a July 9 news release from the school.
In addition to serving as a professor and chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the dental school, Dr. Warburton is chief of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center and the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. He is also the chief of maxillofacial trauma at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore and a faculty member in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Dr. Warburton will serve in the interim role beginning Aug. 1 while current Dean Mark Reynolds, DDS, PhD, serves as UMB’s interim provost and executive vice president.
