The Illinois Legislature recently voted to modify the state’s teledentistry laws.
More than a dozen changes were approved by state legislators, including the addition of a definition for synchronous communication, clarifications on authorized activities by licensed dental professionals, service limitations and a new mandate that dentists direct patients to be seen in person at least annually for ongoing patient relationships.
The changes were sent to Gov. JB Pritzker at the end of June for final approval.
