Las Vegas-based Absolute Dental has gained final court approval to settle a class-action lawsuit related to its 2025 data breach.
Absolute Dental, which has more than 50 locations across Nevada, discovered that an unauthorized party accessed some of its systems between Feb. 19, 2025 and March 5, 2025.
Third-party forensic investigators determined that the access originated from the accidental execution of a malicious version of a legitimate software tool, which occurred through an account associated with Absolute Dental’s third-party managed service provider.
A class-action lawsuit was later filed, which the practice agreed to settle for $3.3 million. A final approval hearing was held July 31, during which a judge authorized the settlement.
Approved class members include all living U.S. residents whose personal information was potentially compromised in the incident. The settlement class is estimated to include more than 1.2 million members, according to court documents.
