Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker recently signed a bill that includes several changes to the state’s teledentistry laws.
Senate Bill 3211 includes more than a dozen changes to teledentistry regulations, including the addition of a definition for synchronous communication, clarifications on authorized activities by licensed dental professionals, service limitations and a new mandate that dentists direct patients to be seen in person at least annually for ongoing patient relationships.
The bill was signed into law Aug. 21, and will go into effect Jan. 1.
