In the lawsuits, the women claim Kevin Pierce, DDS, who formerly worked at Marshfield Family Dental Care, sexually harassed employees and patients.
Additionally, the lawsuit alleges Effingham, Ill.-based Heartland Dental, which provides non-clinical administrative support for the dental practice, failed to stop the sexual harassment after the women allegedly filed complaints.
The women claimed that they filed various complaints against Dr. Pierce in 2018. Dr. Pierce no longer works at Marshfield Family Dental Care.
In a statement to the Springfield News-Leader, a Heartland Dental spokesperson said:
“Heartland Dental was surprised to receive complaints from employees at Marshfield Family Dental Care last fall. We responded promptly to these complaints and immediately took corrective action and implemented preventative measures. We would like to note that five of the six individuals who filed these complaints are still employees at the supported office, Marshfield Family Dental Care. As an equal opportunity employer, Heartland Dental is vigilant in its efforts to ensure a professional work environment for all its employees, including the plaintiffs.”
