Digital Dental Record discovered that malware had been deployed to its remote management software that is used to back up client data. The company immediately began an investigation to remove the malware.
“Restoration is a slow and methodical process that could take several more days to complete,” the company said in a statement. “Additionally, we are communicating with clients to answer questions, facilitate contact with appropriate insurance carriers and address other business concerns.”
It is unclear how many patients have been affected due to the security incident.
