Bradley Seyer, DDS, pleaded guilty June 26, 2019, to two felony charges of making false statements to Medicare and illegally prescribing opioids, including hydrocodone, without medical purpose.
In the plea agreement, Dr. Seyer admitted to prescribing 14,000 units of various opioids over the course of 10 years to a patient only identified by her initials E.A. While Dr. Seyer kept a record for E.A. at his practice, the record failed to list all of the prescriptions written for her. The record also didn’t document office visits and examinations conducted by Dr. Seyer.
Additionally, Dr. Seyer told investigators that he prescribed narcotics to his father, who was covered by Medicare. The plea agreement states that Medicare paid for the five prescriptions made out to Dr. Seyer’s father although they were not medically necessary.
