Large gatherings should be canceled, Anthony Fauci, MD, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said March 11, according to STAT.
Below are three dental events called off due to the outbreak:
1. IADR, AADR cancel session scheduled for March 18-21 in Washington, D.C.
The International Association for Dental Research and American Association for Dental Research canceled a general session in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. All registered participants are to receive a full refund within the next 45 days. Currently, there are no plans to reschedule.
2. Hinman Dental Society’s 20,000-person dental conference in Atlanta canceled
The 108th Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting, scheduled to be held March 19-21, was canceled, with the next conference set for March 11-13, 2021.
3. 2020 Connecticut Mission of Mercy dental clinic set for March 20-21 canceled
Danbury-based Western Connecticut State University planned to host the dental clinic, which has been canceled until further notice. The clinic has been held since 2008 and offers free dental services.
