FDA clears AI-powered aligners treatment planning software

Orthodontics technology company SoftSmile received FDA 510(k) clearance for its AI-powered Vision software, allowing orthodontists to create aligners treatment plans in-house, the company said Jan. 18.

The software lets physicians plan treatments for aligners that are manufactured with 3D printing.

SoftSmile said it is working with aligner manufacturers and can begin marketing its software as a standalone product to be used by doctors without third-party manufacturers.
