SmileDirectClub sees 20% revenue increase in Q1

SmileDirectClub saw a 20.1 percent increase in revenue during the first quarter of 2022, the company said in a May 9 news release.

Three notes on the company’s first quarter financial report:

1. SmileDirectClub brought in $152 million in revenue during the first quarter, a 20.1 percent increase from the fourth quarter of 2021 but a 24 percent decrease compared to the first quarter of 2021. 

2. The teledentistry company experienced a net loss of $73 million, $22 million less than both the fourth quarter of 2021’s and the prior year period’s losses.

3. The company also had 76,254 clear aligner shipments, a 15.3 percent increase from the fourth quarter of 2021.
