Dental appointment schedules were 86% full in May

Dental practice appointments reached 86 percent capacity in May, according to a recent poll by the American Dental Association’s Health Policy Institute.

The ADA group surveyed dentists in its monthly “Economic Outlook and Emerging Issues in Dentistry” poll. Researchers received 7,931 responses to a question about how full their appointment schedule was for the week of May 16. 

Dental practice appointment schedules were 86.2 percent full in May, a slight drop from April and from March, which had the highest rate so far this year. 

Average appointment schedule capacity so far in 2022:

January: 76.7 percent

February: 83.4 percent

March: 87.7 percent

April: 86.9 percent

May: 86.2 percent
