Here are five dental education statistics Becker’s has reported on since Oct. 24:

1. The number of dental school graduates has increased 30.5 percent since 2011, according to data from the American Dental Association.

2. New York University in New York City had 391 graduates in 2021 — the highest number of any dental school in the U.S., according to data from the ADA.

3. With 378 students, New York University College of Dentistry in New York City had the highest enrollment of all 68 U.S. dental schools during the 2021-22 academic year, according to data from the ADA.

4. The number of first-year dental school students increased by 11.6 percent over the last 10 years, according to data from the ADA.

5. The average dental school graduate in 2019 owed $292,169 in student loan debt, according to the most recent data from the Education Data Initiative, a resource that collects data and statistics about the U.S. education system.
