Henry Schein acquires Marrodent, enters Polish dental market: 5 notes

The healthcare product distributor Henry Schein plans to acquire the Polish dental distributor Marrodent.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. Henry Schein has entered an agreement to acquire 80 percent ownership of Marrodent. The remaining 20 percent will be owned by Marrodent’s founders, brothers Roman Stekla and Marek Stekla.

2. Marrodent serves around 10,000 office-based dental practitioners across Poland.

3. This agreement marks Henry Schein’s entrance into the Polish dental market. Including Marrodent, Henry Schein will have dental operations or affiliates in 27 countries.

4. In 2015, Henry Schein reported dental sales of $5.3 billion and Marrodent reported dental sales of $32 million.

5. The agreement has not yet been approved by Poland’s competition authorities; however, the acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2016.
