With the clearance, Overjet’s AI can be used to detect and outline cavities on radiographs for patients age 12 and older that have permanent teeth, according to a June 28 news release.
Overjet’s software is the only dental AI that also outlines the teeth with cavities, which aids dentists with their diagnosis and treatment planning.
During the FDA’s study, dentists missed 43 percent fewer teeth with cavities when using Overjet’s AI, the release said.
