Dr. Phil Wenk to retire as Delta Dental of Tennessee CEO

Delta Dental of Tennessee CEO Phil Wenk, DDS, is set to retire at the end of 2023.

Jeff Ballard, current CFO and president, will take over as CEO starting Jan. 1, 2024, according to an Aug. 29 news release. 

Dr. Wenk became president and CEO in 2000. In preparation for his retirement, the board of directors implemented a transition plan, which included the promotion of Mr. Ballard to president in 2022. 

During his tenure as CEO, Dr. Wenk increased revenue from $58 million to $412 million. 

Once he retires from the role, Dr. Wenk will take over as president of the Smile180 Foundation, Delta Dental of Tennessee’s charitable foundation, the release said.
