DSOs have made the most additions in California, with 17 new DSO-affiliated practices added so far this year.
Becker's compiled a list of more than 140 DSO moves that have taken place so far this year, including affiliations, de novos and acquisitions.
Here are five states that have had the highest DSO activity so far in 2022:
California
Carrollton, Texas-based MB2 Dental added Pure Dentistry in Rocklin, My Dental Office of Beverly Hills and Kelly Smile in Victorville.
Tempe, Ariz.-based Gen4 Dental Partners acquired Bay Area Dental, a multilocation practice in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Imagen Dental Partners added Beach Teeth in Manhattan Beach; Santa Monica Bay Dental; and the office of David Littlefield, DDS, in Chula Vista. It also added San Diego-based the Dentistry Collective and Mendelovitz DDS in Los Angeles.
Orange, Calif.-based Western Dental opened two offices in Colton and Yucaipa. An office co-located with the LooksBrite Eye Center opened in South Gate in June. It added six other offices in Glendale, Selma, San Lorenzo, San Diego, Los Angeles and Menifee. In January, it opened two offices in Los Angeles and Menifee.
Irvine, Calif.-based Smile Brands affiliated with TLC for Smiles in Los Angeles.
Frisco, Texas-based Bond Orthodontic Partners added Stormberg Orthodontics in La Mesa and Braces by Garcia, which has locations in Temecula, Menifee and Orange.
Morrisville, N.C.-based Affordable Care opened an Affordable Dentures & Implants practice in Sacramento.
Fort Worth, Texas-based Five Point Dental Specialists acquired Coastal Max Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center, which has two locations in Santa Maria and Arroyo Grande.

Carrollton, Texas-based MB2 Dental added St. Andrews Dental Center in Panama City and Smiles of Punta Gorda.
Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Imagen Dental Partners added Burgess Center for Cosmetic Dentistry in Ponte Vedra Beach and Stanton Smiles in Fort Lauderdale.
Tampa, Fla.-based Today's Dental Network added Eastman Periodontics & Implants, which has locations in Lakewood Ranch and Bradenton. It also added Contemporary Periodontics & Implant Dentistry in St. Petersburg and Sarasota-based Middleton Oral Surgery.
Sarasota, Fla.-based Dental Care Alliance affiliated with Florida Dental Centers, which has five offices in the state. It also opened its 12th Dental Associates of Florida location in Sun City.
Morrisville, N.C.-based Affordable Care opened an Affordable Dentures & Implants practice in Destin, Fla.
Boca Raton, Fla.-based Sage Dental acquired two Cornerstone Dental Group offices in Tampa and St. Petersburg, Deerfield Dental Group in Deerfield Beach, Horizon One Dental in Fort Myers and Gary Selby, DDS, in Brandon.
Carmel, Ind.-based Vista Verde Dental Partners opened a Britely Dentures + Implants Studio in Bonita Springs.
Brentwood, Tenn.-based Marquee Dental Partners acquired Tampa-based Advanced Dental Arts.

Morrisville, N.C.-based Affordable Care opened Affordable Dentures & Implants practices in El Paso, Harker Heights and Austin. It also partnered with Comprehensive Dental Group and Hanna Dental Implant Center in Houston.
Irvine, Calif.-based Smile Brands added Aria Dental and Mike Majors DDS, both in San Antonio. It also partnered with G's Dental Studio, which has 14 locations throughout Cedar Park and Leander.
Fort Worth, Texas-based Brident Dental & Orthodontics acquired Royal Dental in Houston.
Sarasota, Fla.-based Dental Care Alliance added Burleson Pediatric Dentistry.
