71% of patients more likely to trust dentist using AI: survey

Patients trust dentists who use artificial intelligence technology for diagnosis more than those who do not, according to a recent survey from Pearl, a company that provides AI services to dental practices.

The "Dental Patient Trust & Technology Survey" was conducted in June using input from 597 dental patients older than 26 with a minimum household income of $50,000. Respondents all visited the dentist in the past four years. Read more about the methodology here.

Four findings on patients' views on technology usage in oral healthcare:

1. Eighty-seven percent of respondents said it is important that their dentist uses the latest technology.

2. Seventy-seven percent of respondents said they would be more likely to choose a dentist who uses advanced technology.

3. Seventy-one percent of respondents said they would be more likely to trust their diagnosis if the dentist were using AI software to assist in an X-ray evaluation.

4. Forty-nine percent of respondents said a doctor and AI disease detection system combined would be most likely to accurately diagnose a medical condition.
