6 clear aligner updates to know

From advertising challenges to new products, here are six clear aligner updates since June 29:

1. Orthobrain, an orthodontics growth company, launched its new clear aligner system, SimplyClear.

2. Chicago-based DSO Aspen Dental hired Payam Ataii, DMD, to be its senior vice president of orthodontic support to educate and support dental professionals delivering clear aligner treatment to patients.  

3. SmileDirectClub and Align Technology reported $126 million and $969.6 million in second quarter revenue, respectively.

4. SmileDirectClub agreed to modify advertising about its clear aligner treatment based on recommendations from the National Advertising Division of the Better Business Bureau National Programs after facing an ad challenge from Align Technology. 

5. Sage Dental teamed up with Japanese clear aligner manufacturer SheepMedical to offer KiyoClear orthodontic aligners, making it the first U.S. DSO to offer the clear aligners.

6. Orthodontics company StarAligners launched an oral therapy light system to complement its clear aligner treatment.
