The robot, Pedia_Roid, was developed by Japanese robotics startup Tmsuk.

Pedia_Roid mimics childlike behavior that a dentist may encounter during a visit such as fidgeting, clenching teeth and vomiting. The robot is able to perform 24 actions and is capable of face and voice recognition.

The robot is 3 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 50 pounds.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
