Dental AI company earns FDA clearance for 3D CBCT imaging software

Dental AI company Velmeni has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for an AI-powered 3D cone beam computed technology dental imaging software. 

Velmeni for Dentists 3D helps dental professionals review and analyze dental CBCT scans through AI-assisted anatomical segmentation, visualization, measurements and image reconstruction, according to a July 27 news release from Velmeni. 

The software can support dental implant planning, endodontic assessment, orthodontic evaluation, surgical review and airway analysis. 

Velmeni for Dentists 3D is part of the company’s connected AI dental platform, which also includes AI-assisted 2D dental X-ray analysis, voice-enabled periodontal charting and clinical documentation, automated CBCT reporting support, dental insurance claims automation and clinical workflow and practice-management integrations, the release said.
