Filling dental practices with enough staff has been an ongoing problem for the dental industry and is a big issue moving forward for many. 

Angela Atherton-Nurczyk, a former dental practice manager in St. Petersburg, Fla., has been accused of stealing more than $50,000 from her employer, according to an Aug. 24 report by NBC affiliate WFLA.

Direct payment from private insurance carriers was the top source of gross billings for owner dentists in private practice at 49.6 percent, according to data from the American Dental Association's Health Policy Institute.

Solo dentists in private practice had gross billings of $539 per practice hour in 2022, according to data from the American Dental Association's Health Policy Institute.
