3 states with the highest unemployment rates

Georgia, Florida and Alabama currently have the highest unemployment rates amid the pandemic, according to Yahoo! Finance.

The number of Americans filing unemployment claims surpassed 3 million last week, bringing the total number of unemployment claims to more than 33 million in the last seven weeks, according to new figures from the U.S. Department of Labor.

Georgia residents filed 226,900 unemployment claims last week, marking a nearly 5,000 percent increase from the week ending March 14. Florida and Alabama both saw unemployment claims spike about 4,000 percent over the same time period, with each state receiving 173,200 and 28,200 claims, respectively.
