Bankrate gives the following statistics detailing dental coverage throughout the U.S.

1. A 2016 American Dental Association's Health Policy Institute report found the average out-of-pocket dental expense for a U.S. resident was $544 in 2013.

2. A typical individual policy for dental coverage is about $350 per year.

3. Nearly 66 percent of Americans had dental benefits at the end of 2016.
