A recent Delta Dental survey found 57 percent of Americans have made an unexpected visit to their dentist.

Here are the top six reasons for the unexpected visits.

1. Pain in mouth: 33 percent

2. Chipped or cracked tooth: 26 percent

3. Cavity: 20 percent

4. Crown fell off: 14 percent

5. Filling fell out: 14 percent

6. Bleeding gums: 8 percent
