In 2017, the average net income for general dentists was $197,190, according to the American Dental Association.

However, for specialty dentists, the average net income increased to $320,990.

The average gross billing per general dentist owner in 2017 was $718,790. Specialists reported $1,058,630 in average gross billings.

For recent dental school graduates, the median annual net income in private practice is around $120,000.
