The US dental schools ranked among the top 50 worldwide

The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor earned the top spot on a list of the best dental schools in the world created by QS World University Rankings. 

The university was ranked the best dental school in the world for the third year in a row, also topping the list in 2024 and 2023.

QS World University Rankings compared schools across five categories: academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations per paper, H-index and international research network. Read more on the methodology here

Here are the 14 U.S. dental schools included in the top 50 of the rankings and their score out of 100:

1. University of Michigan-Ann Arbor: 88.3

6. University of California, San Francisco: 85.1

10. Harvard University (Cambridge, Mass.): 81.2

16. University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia): 77.2

17. University of California, Los Angeles: 76.9

19. University of Washington (Seattle): 76.5

21. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill: 75.9

22. Tufts University (Medford, Mass.): 74.8

23. New York University (New York City): 74.4

37. Columbia University (New York City): 71.6

38. University of Iowa (Iowa City): 71.5

39. University of Buffalo (N.Y.) SUNY: 71.2

42. The Ohio State University (Columbus): 71

45: Boston University: 70.2
