Four notes:

1. Fluoride is currently added to more than a dozen communities’ water supplies in the state.

2. This is at least the fourth time that an anti-fluoridation bill has been proposed in the state, the Concord Monitor reported.

3. A motion to deem the bill “inexpedient to legislate” was passed by a 14-1 vote after an hour of testimony discussing the benefits and concerns associated with water fluoridation.

4. A recent National Toxicology Program report that linked higher levels of fluoride exposure to lower IQ in children sparked national debate about water fluoridation, but several organizations have criticized the report’s research and reiterated their support for water fluoridation.
