In January, California passed an emergency waiver allowing dentists to administer the COVID-19 vaccine. Both Alex Denes, DDS, and his wife, Claudia Denes, DDS, completed several training and safety courses mandated by the CDC. They also had to buy a special freezer to store vaccine doses.

“We had to go through a lot of approval processes and site inspections and all that,” Dr. Alex Denes said. “We built an online scheduling system that anybody can use so we’re vaccinating patients and non-patients as well.”

Eligible individuals can receive the shot after hours and on Saturdays, Dr. Alex Denes told KFSN-TV. The practice receives between 200 to 300 doses of the Moderna vaccine each week.

“Of course the vaccine is provided by the government so we don’t charge anybody,” Dr. Alex Denes said, adding that he hopes more local dentists will join him in volunteering to administer the shot.
