The Organized Dentistry Coalition is urging lawmakers to continue support for federal oral health programs within the Department of Health and Human Services.
The coalition warned in an April 30 letter that cuts listed in President Donald Trump’s proposed budget could negatively affect public health outcomes by weakening efforts related to prevention, research and access to care. The programs that could be impacted include the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, the CDC Division of Oral Health, CMS and workforce programs under the Health Resources and Services Administration.
The Organized Dentistry Coalition is made up of 15 organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Education Association.
The letter comes after several dental organizations requested more than $600 million in funding for oral health programs for fiscal year 2027.
At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
