Planet DDS acquires dental software company

Dental software company Planet DDS recently acquired Cloud 9 Software from investment firm Accel-KKR.

Cloud 9 Software provides practice management software for orthodontic and pediatric practices. The software is used at more than 2,900 locations. 

Planet DDS said in a Jan. 5 news release that the acquisition will allow it to expand as a multispecialty dental software company.

Planet DDS is backed by private equity firms Level Equity and Aquiline Capital Partners.

Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
