LightForce Orthodontics raises $80M in funding, opens 2nd digital factory

Burlington, Mass.-based LightForce Orthodontics received $80 million in a series D round of funding. 

The funds will be used to increase production through a new 36,000-square-foot facility in Wilmington, Mass., the implementation of AI, and investing in education, according to an Aug. 2 news release.

LightForce is a manufacturer of 3D-printed braces that are individualized for each patient through a personalized digital treatment plan. 

The company also plans to add sales and manufacturing staff members to its team as part of its expansion.

LightForce was founded in 2015 by Alfred Griffin, DMD, PhD, and Lou Shuman, DMD, and launched its commercial operations in 2020, the release said.
