Ultra-thin veneer material earns FDA clearance

Boston Micro Fabrication received FDA clearance for its UltraThineer material for dental veneers.

The 3D printed veneers are made with projection micro stereolithography, which leads to better resolution, accuracy and precision, according to an April 23 news release.

The technology creates cosmetic veneers that are three times thinner than traditional veneers and also allows for more preservation of patient's enamel.

The company is partnering with U.S. dental laboratories and expects to have the technology and products commercially available in the second half of 2024, the release said.
