3Shape, Medit settle patent infringement case: 3 things to know

Intraoral scanner provider 3Shape and dental 3D scanner provider Medit settled U.S. patent infringement litigation, according to a Nov. 21 news release from 3Shape.

Here are three things to know:

1. 3Shape filed a patent infringement complaint against Medit in 2022, claiming that Medit’s intraoral scanner systems infringed on 3Shape’s patents for wireless scanning, scanning software and tooth color shade measurement.

2. Both companies are moving forward and focusing on their core business priorities following the settlement.

3. The original complaint from 3Shape sought monetary damages and injunctive relief.
