Alpharetta, Ga.-based OrthoMinds, a provider of orthodontic practice management software, is facing a class-action lawsuit after its recent data breach.

In November 2024, OrthoMinds learned of a potential security incident within its network environment. An investigation determined that between Nov. 17 and Nov. 27, files and folders stored on certain databases may have been accessible to individuals outside the organization.

Information involved may have included names, dates of birth, medical information, health insurance information, payment card information and Social Security numbers.

A class-action lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court of the Northern District Of Georgia March 24, alleging that the company failed to properly safeguard protected health information, causing harm to those whose information was exposed and accessed.

The class action seeks to cover all individuals in the U.S. whose information was exposed as a result of the data breach, according to court documents.

Becker’s has contacted OrthoMinds for comment and will update this article if more information becomes available.
