The University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry has completed its transition to Epic, joining UI Health on a unified electronic health records system.
The launch includes Epic Wisdom, a specialized EHR module for dental care workflows. The college performs about 350,000 treatments per year as the state’s largest dental care provider. With the integration, dental providers now have access to comprehensive patient information including medical history, medications, diagnoses, lab results and imaging from across the UI Health enterprise, according to a Sept. 21 news release.
The college is also the first institution to implement Epic’s newly developed grading module, which will connect clinical training with competency assessment for dental students.
The integration also unlocks research opportunities, giving investigators access to data from UI Health Epic and the broader Epic network.
