Jeanne Sinkford, DDS, PhD, the first female dean of a U.S. dental school, died recently at the age of 92.
Dr. Sinkford earned her dental degree from the Howard University College of Dentistry in 1958. She later served as dean of the school for 16 years. She also served as the associate director and director of the Center of Equity and Diversity at the American Dental Education Association for 17 years, according to an Oct. 6 news release from the American Dental Association.
Dr. Sinkford earned the ADA’s Distinguished Service Award in 2015.
