Ohio dentist faces 16 months in prison for tax evasion: 3 insights

James Pelagalli, DMD, was sentenced to 16 months in prison for income tax evasion, according to The Blade.

Here are three insights.

1. The Toledo, Ohio district court also demanded Dr. Pelagalli pay a $20,000 fine.

2. Dr. Pelagalli pled guilty to income tax evasion in 2017 after failing to pay his income taxes for several years. Investigators found he concealed his income and assets from the IRS by using different business names.

3. The plea deal also ordered Dr. Pelagalli to pay $271,266 in restitution.
