Henry Schein partners with Ortho2 to improve practice management software: 3 insights

Henry Schein and Ortho Computer Systems entered an agreement to advance practice management software solutions to orthodontists.

Here are three insights.

1. Under the agreement, Henry Schein will own a 50 percent interest in Ortho2, a provider of practice management software. The transaction is not expected to impact Henry Schein's 2018 diluted earnings per share.

2. Ortho2 staffs more than 70 employees and serves close to 1,700 orthodontists in 2,400 locations. The company offers the Edge Cloud practice management solution and ViewPoint, a Windows-based software solution.

3. Ortho2's Edge Cloud not only provides practice management but also imaging and communications services. The software also offers educational animations and reminders.

"Practice management software is the backbone of an efficient, profitable practice," Ortho2 CEO Stanley Bergman said. "Henry Schein embraces an open architecture approach to all software and advanced technology, which allows for the purchase of products and services that best meet the needs to each individual practice."
