After 25 years, New York college launches newest dental program in the state

New York City-based Plaza College has launched the newest dental hygiene program the city has seen in over 25 years, according to Patch Media.

During the program, students train for two years at the community dental clinic under the supervision of licensed dentists and hygienists. The program provides free or discounted dental care throughout the region. All together, the goal is to expand public access to quality dental care.

After a four year process, the Plaza College dental hygiene degree program has received full accreditation from the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation.

"To have earned this accreditation with no ADA Commission reporting limitations speaks volumes to the respected evaluation our faculty and students achieved," Laura Sleeper, RDH, Dental Hygiene Program Director, told Patch Media.

Plaza College has the only dental hygiene program in the local area. The program's first class recently graduated in May 2019.
