HHS donates $300K for dental care bus in North Carolina

Wilson, N.C.-based Carolina Family Health Centers was granted $300,000 from HHS to purchase a mobile unit and expand dental healthcare, according to local news source The Wilson Times

"Nationally, North Carolina has historically had one of the lowest dentists-to-population ratios," Hilary Patterson, DDS, chief dental officer of Carolina Family Health Centers told The Wilson Times.

It will take about eight months to build the mobile unit so it is equipped for dental screenings, X-rays, cleanings and procedures. The bus will also have space for medical care such as immunizations and physicals, Laura Owens, CEO for Carolina Family Health Centers, told The Wilson Times.
