Pennsylvania dentist agrees to pay $150K to settle opioid fraud allegations

A Morrisville, Pa.-based dentist has agreed to pay $150,000 to settle allegations that she mishandled opioids at her dental practice, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Prananthi Reddy, DDS, has been barred from purchasing, prescribing and dispensing opioids for at least four years as part of the settlement. She will also have to undergo monitoring.

Between June 2017 and November 2018, Dr. Reddy allegedly failed to keep records of controlled substances that were used at her practice. Additionally, Dr. Reddy was accused of being hospitalized for an overdose after taking opioids designated for her practice.

The settlement resolves only allegations and is no determination of liability.
