ADA, DTA urge Congress to halt tariffs on infection control products

The American Dental Association and the Dental Trade Alliance wrote a letter to Congress requesting they suspend tariffs on products necessary to fight the spread of COVID-19.

The letter, sent June 5, calls for a 90-day suspension on tariffs for personal protective equipment and other infection control products.

"The current patchwork of tariffs on these products is counterproductive at this critical time and is adding unnecessary cost and confusion for manufacturers, distributors and consumers," the organizations wrote.

The ADA and DTA also wrote that they are in favor of increasing domestic production of the materials in question to help limit product shortages.
