CEO of Delta Dental of Arizona to retire after 11 years

Delta Dental of Arizona's President and CEO Allan Allford will retire Dec. 31 after more than 11 years at the helm of the insurance company, AZBigMedia.com reports.

Under Mr. Allford's leadership, the company bolstered its membership and revenue, expanded its PPO dentist network and fostered a culture that attracts top talent, according to the report.

"Delta Dental of Arizona has nearly tripled its membership and our foundation has made significant strides in improving oral health throughout the state," said Candace Wiest, chair of the board of directors.

Recent initiatives overseen by Mr. Allford include the creation of an oral health educator role at Phoenix Children's Hospital to help lower patient infection rates and a partnership with Phoenix-based HonorHealth that funds emergency dental treatment for uninsured patients.

Delta Dental of Arizona is working with an executive search firm to identify Mr. Allford's successor and to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
