As mask-wearing wanes, more patients want cosmetic work, Alabama dentist says

After an increase in 2020 for dental reparative work due to COVID-19-related stress, an Alabama dentist has noticed a higher demand for cosmetic dentistry.

Dentists nationwide previously saw many cases of jaw pain and broken teeth caused by excessive jaw clenching and teeth grinding. The attention has now shifted to cosmetic work as more people are able to remove their masks, according to Birmingham, Ala.-based dentist Nicolas Brown, DMD.

"Veneers, composite bonding, all the way down to people getting new dentures and implants and having dentures attached to implants. Everything that has to do with patients smiling. People are definitely ready to show their smiles again," Dr. Brown said.
