6 dentists making headlines

From a state agency appointment to a large school donation, here are six recent dental newsmakers:

  1. Attorneys for Albert Hazzouri, DDS, who was charged June 29 with indecent assault and harassment, requested an order of protection for the dentist's phone following a search warrant that was granted to obtain the item.
  2. Longtime dental industry leader Herbert Yee, DDS, recently died of pneumonia at the age of 96.
  3. Alireza Moheb, DMD, has been accused of taking part in a drug trafficking scheme and was charged with distributing a controlled substance and conspiracy to acquire prescription pills by fraud.
  4. Kaz Rafia, DDS, was selected as the Oregon Health Authority's new dental program director.
  5. Minyoung Lee, DDS, recently donated $25,000 to the Hunt School of Dental Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso to fund multiple student scholarships.
  6. Ruben Cohen, DDS, was found in the wreckage of a private plane July 4 after a crash that took place near Aspen, Colo.
