Howard dental school to use $500K gift for student scholarships

The Howard University School of Dentistry in Washington, D.C., has received a $500,000 gift from dental insurance company United Concordia's Dental Charitable Fund, according to a July 22 report from The Washington Informer.

The gift will be used for scholarships of current and prospective students.

The school received the gift during its Post-Doctoral Graduates Recognition ceremony from Roosevelt Allen, DDS, an alumnus of the university and the vice president and dental director of United Concordia Dental's government business unit.

The charitable fund was established this year to support industry diversity and dental care for uninsured and underinsured people.
