The Roseman University College of Dental Medicine in South Jordan, Utah, was approved by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation to shorten its doctor of dental medicine program and enroll more students, the school said Sept. 8.
The approval authorized the school to shorten the program from a four-year curriculum to a three-year curriculum starting with the 2022-23 academic year, making it the second dental college in the U.S. to offer a shortened program to reduce student financial debt. It is estimated to save students about $130,000 in tuition and living expenses, according to Frank Licari, DDS, the dental school's dean.
The school will also gradually increase its class size, from 100 to 120 students in 2023 and to 136 students in 2024. By the time the school's DMD program is fully transitioned to a three-year curriculum in 2026, the school plans to have 408 students.
The school is expanding its clinical space to accommodate more students.
